Punjab on High Alert Amid Regional Tensions, Warns IGP Dr. Usman Anwar
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has issued a province-wide security alert, cautioning that a “defeated enemy” may resort to terrorism to destabilize Pakistan’s internal peace.
During an awards ceremony at the Central Police Office, Dr. Anwar addressed the growing security risks stemming from heightened tensions between Pakistan and India. He noted that the evolving situation has increased threats against sensitive targets, including Chinese residential complexes and strategic development projects.

“As long as regional tension continues, the danger of terrorism remains very real,” Dr. Anwar stated. He directed all police units—from Lahore to remote districts—to remain on high alert. Security protocols and deployment strategies are being urgently reviewed to ensure swift and effective responses to potential threats.
The Punjab Police, in collaboration with federal agencies, has initiated enhanced patrolling and intelligence-based investigations. Dr. Anwar reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and maintaining public safety across the province.
