Pakistan has firmly rejected Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks, calling them “provocative and inflammatory” and warning they could dangerously escalate tensions in the region.
In a strongly worded statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan criticized India for using regional instability for political advantage. He said Modi’s claims were based on “misinformation and political opportunism,” disregarding international law.

Khan stressed that India’s assertion that Pakistan sought a ceasefire out of “frustration” was false. He clarified the 2021 Line of Control ceasefire was achieved through diplomatic engagement and supported by global partners.
Pakistan also denied involvement in the Pahalgam attack, calling the accusations baseless and politically driven. Khan said India was using the incident to justify aggression and distract from internal issues.
The Foreign Office condemned India’s alleged targeting of Pakistani military sites, warning such provocations risk uncontrollable escalation. It described India’s actions as undermining regional stability and peace efforts.
Khan also condemned civilian killings in Indian-administered Kashmir, rejecting attempts to normalize violence against women and children. He emphasized Pakistan’s measured and defensive response to aggression, stating it was confined to military targets only.
Accusing India of violating the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan vowed to protect its water rights and reiterated its commitment to resolving the Kashmir issue peacefully, in accordance with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
