Popular Housing Society Cancels Development Charges Following Protests
Park View City Faces Backlash Over Alleged Extortion and Brutal Force Against Residents

Park View City, a prominent private housing society in Pakistan, has faced severe criticism after allegations surfaced that the management used brutal force against residents protesting the imposition of new development charges without prior agreement or transparency.

The Charges and Outrage

Residents received formal letters via a private courier service demanding payment for new development charges, which led to widespread anger within the community. This sudden financial demand, without prior consultation or clear communication, triggered protests from the affected residents.

Protests Met with Violence

Eyewitnesses claim that the situation escalated when the housing society’s security personnel responded to the peaceful protests with violence, resulting in several injuries among residents, including women, children, and the elderly. The use of force by the authorities led to a significant public outcry and was widely shared on social media platforms, amplifying the criticism of the housing society’s actions.

Management’s Response

In an attempt to address the growing public backlash, Park View City’s CEO, Omer Farooq, released a video statement claiming that the development charges had been waived entirely. However, when ProPakistani reached out to confirm the waiver in writing, the management stated that residents had been “internally notified” about the decision.

Discrepancy in Communication

Despite the CEO’s statement, residents have expressed frustration over the lack of official communication confirming the waiver. One resident remarked, “We got the demand letters through a courier service. Why can’t they send the waiver notice the same way?” highlighting the discrepancy in the way information was being communicated to the residents.

The incident continues to fuel anger and skepticism among residents, who demand more transparency and accountability from the housing society’s management.
