Indian Army Confirms Heavy Losses From Pakistani Missile Strikes

The Indian Army on Saturday publicly acknowledged suffering significant losses after a series of coordinated missile strikes by Pakistan on key military sites. In a press conference held in New Delhi, an army spokesperson confirmed that Pakistan had targeted 26 installations, including airbases in Pathankot, Udhampur, Bhuj, and Adam Port.

The spokesperson admitted that the attacks inflicted considerable damage on both infrastructure and personnel, including the death of senior administrative officer Raj Kumar Thapa in the Rajouri sector. While the total casualty count has not been disclosed, officials described the damage as serious and ongoing assessments are underway.

Colonel Sofia Qureshi emphasized India’s preference to avoid further escalation, stating that India was ready to de-escalate if Pakistan reciprocated. She reiterated that New Delhi was not seeking to prolong the conflict despite the extensive losses.

Analysts suggest India’s unusually candid admission of losses could be a move to garner international backing while signaling an openness to diplomatic resolution. Increased diplomatic activity in both capitals hints at potential mediation efforts to defuse the crisis.
