Punjab Police Tighten Security After Drone Incident In Lahore

Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar has ordered enhanced security measures across the province, particularly in Lahore, following escalating tensions and the downing of an Indian spy drone. In an official statement on Thursday, Dr Anwar confirmed that Punjab Police is on high alert, with full operational readiness to tackle any emergencies.

He assured that law enforcement is closely monitoring the evolving situation and is fully prepared to ensure public safety and swift responses to any untoward incidents. The Punjab Police is coordinating efforts with the district administration, Civil Defense, and Rescue 1122 to maintain law and order and provide relief operations if necessary.

Security has been intensified at all sensitive sites and inter-provincial borders to deter any threats. These heightened measures come after an Indian drone, reportedly carrying explosives, was shot down near Walton Airport in Lahore on Thursday morning, following multiple explosions heard in the area.

Police sources revealed that the drone, which measured 5 to 6 feet, was being operated from across the border and was intercepted using a jamming system before it could strike sensitive locations.
