India’s cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, has become the second Indian player to score 12,000 runs in T20 cricket. The milestone was reached during Mumbai Indians’ match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where Rohit scored a fiery 70 off 46 balls.
Rohit’s achievement places him alongside Virat Kohli as the only two Indian cricketers to surpass 12,000 T20 runs. In total, Rohit has now played 466 T20 matches. He is also the fifth-fastest player to reach the 12,000-run mark globally, with West Indies’ Chris Gayle leading the list.

The 36-year-old opener is enjoying a strong run in IPL 2025, with consecutive half-centuries, including his recent knock against Sunrisers. Additionally, in the same match, he overtook Kieron Pollard’s record for most sixes in Mumbai Indians’ IPL history.
