The grand opening of Asia’s largest cattle market was held in Karachi on Saturday, attracting a wave of visitors even before the official launch. Mayor Murtaza Wahab, along with Deputy Mayor Salman Murad, led the inauguration and promised enhanced facilities this year.
Addressing attendees, Mayor Wahab acknowledged the intense heat but encouraged positivity, saying, “Keep smiling, and solutions will come.” He thanked the market administration for organizing the event and extending their invitation.

Highlighting the market’s scale, he said, “Millions of animals arrive annually, and thousands visit the Northern Bypass to choose their sacrificial animals.” He also prayed for prosperity among livestock traders, noting their essential role in the Eid economy.
Wahab stressed the city’s focus on improving security, sanitation, and ease for buyers and sellers. “We must create a supportive society during tough times,” he added.
He praised the market’s cultural and economic value, stating, “This market energizes Karachi. A thriving Karachi means a thriving Pakistan.” He also appreciated traders nationwide for bringing livestock with hopes of earning well.
While acknowledging previous issues such as traffic jams, the mayor assured that efforts are underway to improve services and maintain order during Eid. “Karachiites are generous, and we expect vibrant trade activity this year,” he said.
