“A sudden and intense hailstorm swept through the area. Many cars parked in the open now have broken windows and visible damage,” said a local resident in Islamabad’s Blue Area.

The dramatic shift in weather brought dark skies and thunderclaps, effectively ending the oppressive heatwave that had gripped the city for the past three days.

Impact in Surrounding Areas

The storm’s effects were not confined to Islamabad. Rawalpindi and nearby regions also experienced strong winds and heavy rain, with similar weather expected throughout the week.

In Pindi Gheb, the storm caused significant damage, toppling signboards, trees, and utility poles, leading to widespread power outages.

In Fateh Jang, while the rain and strong winds brought some relief, they also caused temporary power outages in several areas.

Further north, areas such as Mansehra, Kaghan Valley, Konsh, Siran Valley, Battagram, and Thakot witnessed heavy rain and hail, enveloping the mountainous regions in a blanket of rain and chilly winds.

Met Office Warning

The Met Department has issued a continued weather advisory, predicting more rain, thunderstorms, and possible hail in the coming days. Citizens are urged to take necessary precautions, particularly when commuting or parking vehicles in open areas.
