Islamabad Hikes Vehicle Transfer Fees, Taxes Electric Cars

Vehicle transfer fees in the federal capital have been increased across all categories, and for the first time, electric vehicles are also subject to these charges.

As per the new rates, the fee for vehicles up to 1000cc has been raised from Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 2,750. For cars between 1000cc and 1800cc, the cost has gone up from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 5,500, while vehicles over 1800cc now require a fee of Rs. 11,000, up from Rs. 3,000.

Electric vehicles are being taxed for the first time, with transfer fees set at Rs. 2,500 for up to 50 kW, Rs. 5,500 for 50–100 kW, and Rs. 10,000 for those exceeding 100 kW.

Motorbike fees have also increased: up to 200cc now costs Rs. 550 (previously Rs. 150), 200–400cc is Rs. 1,000, and above 400cc is Rs. 1,500. All payments are to be made into a designated account specified by the Ministry of Finance, and the revised charges take immediate effect.
