The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) was established in 2008 by Yousaf Raza Gillani who took the advice of President Asif Ali Zardari. The program’s name is a tribute to former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto

BISP operates nationwide through a network of 385 tehsil offices, 33 divisional offices, six regional offices, and its headquarters in Islamabad.

The Benazir Kafaalat Programme, the core initiative of BISP since 2008, is Pakistan’s largest cash transfer program, aiding around 9 million families. It provides financial support to combat poverty, inflation, and economic challenges, with a focus on women’s empowerment and long-term poverty eradication

To reduce poverty and uplift marginalized communities, especially women, through a comprehensive social protection system.

BISP Mission:

To combat poverty using diverse social protection measures that ensure lasting positive change for disadvantaged families
