Punjab Announces Eidul Fitr Holidays for Schools

The Punjab government has officially declared Eidul Fitr holidays for all educational institutions, with schools set to close from March 28. Both public and private schools will observe the break, allowing students and teachers to celebrate the festival. Punjab’s Minister for Education confirmed that government schools will reopen on April 7, and annual results will be announced on April 4.

The holidays come as the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts Eidul Fitr will fall on March 31. This break provides a festive respite for students before the new academic year kicks off.

Meanwhile, the federal government has also announced a three-day public holiday for Eidul Fitr, from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2, according to a notification by the Cabinet Division.

In Sindh, the government has taken steps to prevent fare overcharging during the festive period. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the cancellation of holidays for all transport department officers and staff to ensure they remain on duty to monitor and control fares. This decision aims to protect citizens from paying inflated prices, a common issue during Eid.

Transport officials from the Sindh Transport Authority and other bodies will be on alert to address complaints, with the minister warning that strict action would be taken against violators. The public is encouraged to report any incidents of excessive fare collection for swift resolution.
