Muneeb and Abdul Saboor Secure Gold Medals for Pakistan in Special Olympics World Winter Games

At the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy, Pakistan’s Muneeb Ur Rehman secured a gold medal in the men’s 100-meter cross-country skiing race. Mongolia’s Amarjargal claimed silver, while China’s Mingjun Hong took home bronze.

In the men’s 400-meter snowshoeing event, Abdul Saboor from Pakistan clinched gold, followed by Romania’s Lonut Petrisor in second place and Macau’s Chi Fong in third. Meanwhile, in the women’s 400-meter snowshoeing race, Pakistan’s Minal took gold, with Latvia’s Adriana Maleca earning silver and Chinese Taipei’s Yi Jhen Chen finishing third.

Pakistan wrapped up the event with an impressive total of 11 medals, including six gold, three silver, and two bronze. Special Olympics Pakistan Chairperson Ronak Lakhani congratulated the athletes, coaches, delegation head Farkhanda Jabeen, and the media team, praising their resilience despite Turin’s freezing temperatures. She expressed confidence in their continued success in future competitions.

Pakistani athletes also won silver in the women’s 4×100-meter snowshoeing relay, demonstrating strong performances in subzero conditions. Afaq Khan claimed gold in the 100-meter snowshoeing race, while the men’s 4×100-meter relay team won silver. Canada secured gold in both the men’s and women’s relay events, with Pakistan finishing second in both races.
