PCB Imposes and Refunds Fines on Pakistani Cricketers for Disciplinary Breaches
Reports have surfaced regarding fines imposed on Pakistani cricketers by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for violating team protocols during recent tours. The penalties ranged from hefty fines for serious infractions to smaller amounts for minor breaches, with some being refunded later.
Strict Discipline Under Mohsin Naqvi’s Leadership
The current PCB administration, led by Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, has been under intense scrutiny. However, recent reports suggest that stricter disciplinary measures have been enforced on players during international tours.
One of the most significant penalties was handed to all-rounder Aamer Jamal, who was fined Rs. 1.4 million during a Test match for writing “804” on his cap, a move deemed against team regulations.

Another notable incident occurred during Pakistan’s tour of Australia, where three players—Vice Captain Salman Ali Agha, along with openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique—were fined Rs. 500,000 each for returning late to the team hotel.
During the South Africa series, four players—Sufiyan Muqeem, Usman Khan, Abbas Afridi, and an unnamed fast bowler—were fined $200 each for arriving two minutes late at the hotel.
Fines Refunded After Pakistan’s ODI Series Win
In a surprising turn of events, the fines against Pakistani cricketers were later refunded. Following Pakistan’s clean sweep victory in the ODI series against South Africa, the team management decided to celebrate the achievement by reimbursing the fined amounts as a goodwill gesture.
This move highlights the PCB’s firm stance on discipline, while also showing appreciation for the players’ performances on the field.
