Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has made a humble request to fans and the media, asking them to stop calling him “King.” Speaking after a thrilling match, Babar emphasized the importance of focusing on performances and the team’s success rather than personal titles. “Please stop calling me King. I am not King, I am not there yet. There are new roles for me now,” Babar told reporters.
During the match, Babar praised his teammates, particularly Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman, for their outstanding partnership that led Pakistan to a record chase. Their 261-run stand for the fourth wicket was instrumental in securing the victory with one over to spare. “The team had a plan, and I stuck to it. Agha and Rizwan played brilliantly today,” Babar said, commending their contributions.

Having faced fluctuations in form recently, Babar expressed his determination to focus on the present and the team’s progress. “Whatever I have done before is in the past. Every match is a fresh challenge, and I must focus on the present and future,” he added, highlighting his commitment to the team’s goals.
Babar’s last century came on August 30, 2023, when he scored a blistering 151 runs against Nepal in Multan. However, it was Rizwan and Salman who stole the spotlight in Pakistan’s latest match against South Africa in Karachi. Rizwan’s unbeaten 122 and Salman’s maiden century of 134 powered Pakistan to their highest successful chase in ODI history, reaching 353 in 49 overs.
Pakistan will now face New Zealand in the tri-series final at the same venue, a crucial warm-up ahead of the Champions Trophy, which kicks off next week.
