Lahore, February 2025Pakistan secured first place in the 9-nation Tent Pegging Championship, dominating the competition with an impressive 570 points to outshine all other contenders.

Egypt & Saudi Arabia Follow Behind

  • Egypt finished as the runner-up, while Saudi Arabia secured third place in the tournament.
  • Pakistan’s Aftab Shabbir was awarded the prestigious title of Best Rider of the Tournament, further highlighting the country’s excellence in equestrian sports.

Historic International Participation in Lahore

The championship, hosted in Lahore, featured teams from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, South Africa, the United States, Norway, Kuwait, Oman, and Pakistan. For the first time, nine nations competed in a single tent pegging event in Pakistan, marking a milestone in the sport’s history.

Equestrian Federation President Hails Success

Speaking on the significance of the event, Equestrian Federation President Sahibzada Sultan stated:

“The teams that have visited Pakistan will carry a positive message back to their countries. Hosting international players here is a major achievement.”

Sultan also emphasized his vision for the sport’s growth, expressing confidence that with government and institutional support, tent pegging would continue to thrive in Pakistan.

Additionally, he credited the successful hosting of the World Cup Qualifiers in Pakistan to his dedication and continuous efforts.
