The first fast of Ramadan in Pakistan is likely to fall on March 2, according to the latest prediction by the Meteorological Department regarding the moon sighting. The department has forecast that the crescent is unlikely to be visible on February 28, which corresponds to the 29th of Sha’ban.
The new moon is expected to be born on February 28 at 5:45 PM, but its age at sunset on 29th Sha’ban will be only 13 hours and 12 minutes. For the crescent to be visible, it needs to be at least 19 hours old, which means the chances of sighting it on that day are quite low.

The Met Office also predicted partly cloudy to clear skies in various regions of the country on the evening of February 29, further decreasing the likelihood of spotting the Ramadan crescent.
