Pakistan’s football future remains uncertain as FIFA extends the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Normalisation Committee’s (NC) mandate until at least July 31, 2025. However, the suspension will only be lifted if the PFF Congress approves FIFA’s proposed constitutional amendments and holds long-delayed elections.

FIFA suspended Pakistan on February 6, citing Congress’s refusal to adopt constitutional changes aimed at ensuring democratic elections. This marks the third suspension for Pakistan football since 2017, reflecting ongoing governance issues. FIFA highlighted Article 38 of the current PFF Constitution as a major obstacle, limiting eligible candidates for elections.

Despite the suspension, FIFA will continue the normalisation process to maintain PFF operations. The NC, led by chairman Haroon Malik, is negotiating with Congress members and seeking government intervention to resolve the impasse.

Until an agreement is reached, Pakistan remains excluded from international football, leaving players, clubs, and fans in limbo.
