Pakistan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Economic Ties in High-Level Meetings

A high-ranking Pakistani delegation, led by Federal Minister for Investment and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, held key discussions in Baku to enhance bilateral relations and foster economic cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The meetings, attended by top Azerbaijani officials, focused on expanding collaboration in investment, energy, transport, and economic sectors.

The Pakistani team, comprising senior officials and experts, engaged in talks with Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Transport Minister Rashid Nabiov, and Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs Samad Bashiri. Discussions primarily revolved around strengthening partnerships in oil and gas, energy, and transport infrastructure.

Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the significant progress achieved, revealing that 15 agreements are currently in negotiation, covering areas such as energy projects, motorways, and privatization initiatives.

He further highlighted that the two countries are set to sign investment agreements worth up to $2 billion, which will play a vital role in long-term economic development.

Additionally, Minister Khan invited Azerbaijani authorities to participate in Pakistan’s privatization projects, encouraging further economic collaboration.

As part of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic outreach, the Prime Minister is expected to visit Central Asian nations later this month, reinforcing regional ties.

The Azerbaijani leadership warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing keen interest in exploring new opportunities for cooperation. In a further step toward strengthening the partnership, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan is scheduled to meet Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov today to discuss expanding economic collaboration.
