The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has authorized Azerbaijani cargo vehicles to enter Pakistan under the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement 2024.

An official Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) was issued under the agreement and the 2024 Transit Trade Rules, covering cargo arriving through Karachi Port, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, and Gwadar Port. Customs clearance for transit trade will be managed through designated ports using the computerized customs system.

Azerbaijani-registered vehicles can enter Pakistan without providing financial guarantees for duties and taxes, thanks to mutual cooperation. However, all transport operators and customs agents must maintain a “rotating insurance guarantee PD account” with customs authorities.

The Directorate General of Reforms and Automation in Karachi will generate user IDs for traders, government bodies, the UN, and diplomatic missions. Azerbaijan’s relevant ministry will electronically submit the necessary registration forms via the customs system.

Additionally, every vehicle entering or leaving Pakistan must carry a valid permit issued by the authorized authority in the specified format. The Directorate of Transit Trade in Peshawar, Quetta, and Gwadar will handle permit issuance at land border customs stations.

This initiative is designed to simplify trade procedures and strengthen economic ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
