Senator Faisal Vawda has strongly predicted that Imran Khan is likely to be convicted in the high-profile £190 million corruption case, despite repeated delays in the verdict. Vawda, who spoke on a private television program, reassured that while the dates for the verdict may shift, the final decision would remain unchanged. This comes after a third deferral of the judgment due to the absence of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in court.
The Islamabad Accountability Court, led by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, was set to announce the verdict on January 13, but both accused failed to appear. This marks the third postponement of the case, after previous delays on December 23 and January 6. Vawda’s remarks suggest a looming final decision on the case, which could have significant political implications for Khan and his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In addition to the case’s developments, Vawda also warned of a potential scandal set to emerge on January 22, which could lead to legal actions and imprisonment for those involved. He revealed his personal involvement in the situation, stating that if the issue proceeds, legal challenges will be launched. He further cautioned that if the government attempts to force through the matter, there will be consequences.
While Vawda expressed doubts about the future of PTI, especially with ongoing negotiations between the government and the opposition party, he also criticized PTI’s past actions. He referred to the heroin case against Rana Sanaullah as a “petty and unjustified” move, adding that the party’s current interactions with the government were questionable. Vawda concluded by sharing mixed sentiments about Pakistan’s future, expressing concern over PTI’s trajectory.
