A petition has been submitted in a Punjab court seeking legal action against Defence Minister Khawaja Asif over his controversial remarks about historical figure Mahmud Ghaznavi.
The petitioner claimed that Asif aimed to tarnish Ghaznavi’s reputation and demanded accountability.

In response, the court requested a report from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and scheduled a hearing for later this month.
The controversy arose after Asif referred to Mahmud of Ghazni as “merely a plunderer” during a TV interview, shocking many in Pakistan, where Ghaznavi is honored in history for his 1026 raid on India’s Somnath temple.
