Saim Ayub Faces Uncertainty About Champions Trophy Amid Ongoing Treatment

Pakistani cricketer Saim Ayub has expressed uncertainty about his participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy, as he awaits a decision from the medical panel regarding his fitness.

The 22-year-old batsman and fielder sustained an injury during the first session of the Test match, raising concerns about his availability.

“I can’t confirm my participation in the Champions Trophy just yet,” Ayub stated during a media interaction in London. “The medical panel’s decision will determine the outcome. It’s entirely up to them.”

Ayub’s injury occurred while fielding a relay throw after Aamir Jamal retrieved the ball from the deep third-man region. As Ayub sprinted to complete the throw, he lost his balance and fell backward, clearly in discomfort. He was promptly escorted off the field and provided with medical attention.

Appealing to his fans, Ayub requested their prayers during this challenging time. “Please keep me in your prayers,” he said emotionally.

Despite the setback, Ayub expressed confidence in the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) handling of the situation. “I am satisfied with the measures the PCB has taken,” he said, reaffirming his trust in the board’s commitment to player welfare.

The PCB has been in regular contact with Ayub’s medical team, and he clarified that any updates on his condition would come through official channels. “For further updates or medical reports, the PCB can be contacted,” he added.

As for his stay in London, Ayub refrained from sharing details, stating, “I can’t comment on my stay here yet.” His primary focus remains on recovery and adhering to the medical team’s guidance.
