Punjab Police Prepare for Strict Action on New Year’s Eve Celebrations

In preparation for New Year’s Eve celebrations, Punjab Police have devised a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order across the province. The event, known for its influx of citizens enjoying fireworks, has prompted police to take extra precautions to ensure public safety.

Security Measures

A total of 25,000 police personnel will be deployed across the region, including over 18,000 constables. In the provincial capital, Lahore, more than 5,000 police officers will be on duty, with the entire event being monitored through camera surveillance to ensure security and prevent any untoward incidents.

Strict Warnings Against Disruptive Behavior

Punjab’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) has issued a stern warning against one-wheeling, aerial firing, and other forms of disruptive behavior. Harassment of women and causing distress to citizens will not be tolerated, and offenders will face immediate detention.

Enhanced Patrols and Operations

To further bolster security, the Dolphin Squad, PERU, Elite Force, and PHP teams have ramped up patrols across the province. Routine search-and-sweep operations will also be conducted in various cities, with a particular focus on preventing the illegal display of firearms and aerial firing.

Accountability for Previous Offenders

Individuals involved in last year’s one-wheeling and aerial firing incidents will be required to submit surety bonds as part of the ongoing efforts to deter criminal behavior.

Public Cooperation Encouraged

Citizens are encouraged to report any violations, such as one-wheeling, illegal firearms display, or aerial firing, by calling the police helpline. The authorities are emphasizing the need for cooperation to ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year’s celebration for all.
