Pakistan Clinches Historic ODI Series Win in South Africa

Pakistan has etched its name in cricket history with a remarkable 2-0 series win over South Africa in the second ODI, defeating the hosts by 81 runs. This victory makes Pakistan the first team in the 21st century to win three bilateral ODI series in South Africa, having previously triumphed in 2013 and 2021.

The match saw Pakistan put up a commanding total of 330 runs, which proved too much for South Africa, who were bowled out for 248 in just 43.1 overs. Captain Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, and Kamran Ghulam played key roles with the bat, contributing important half-centuries to guide the team to victory. Ghulam was named the Player of the Match for his crucial knock.

Pakistan’s fast bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, were instrumental in the win, taking seven wickets for 84 runs in a combined 16.1-over spell. Their brilliant bowling performance dismantled South Africa’s batting order and sealed the series victory.

With this win, Pakistan joins Australia as the only two teams to win three or more ODI series in South Africa, further establishing their credentials on foreign soil. This victory also marks Pakistan’s third consecutive ODI series triumph, following wins over Australia and Zimbabwe.
