ISLAMABAD – Renowned Pakistani academic and former Lieutenant General of the Pakistan Army, Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif, has officially taken office as the new Rector of the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST).

Dr. Latif is an accomplished graduate of several prestigious institutions, including National Defense University, Command and Staff College, and Peking University, holding multiple master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in diplomacy. He specializes in military diplomacy, peace and conflict resolution, and South Asian politics. Over the years, Dr. Latif has authored numerous research papers, contributing to global prosperity and stability, with a notable academic career both in Pakistan and abroad.

With an impressive academic and professional background, Dr. Zahid Latif brings extensive expertise in research, development, and higher education. His career spans academia and military service, including a role as Federal Secretary of Defence Production, where he gained significant experience in advanced technologies and the global defense industry.

Dr. Zahid is also a senior fellow at the renowned Chinese think tank, Taihe Institute. His academic contributions have been published in various research journals, further solidifying his commitment to advancing education.
