The World Chess Championship final between India’s Gukesh Dommaraju and China’s Ding Liren has sparked controversy following accusations from Russian Chess Federation President Andrei Filatov. Filatov alleges that Ding deliberately lost the final match, which saw Gukesh secure victory with a 7.5-6.5 score, becoming the youngest-ever World Chess Champion.

Filatov has formally requested that FIDE (International Chess Federation) investigate the suspicious nature of the game’s final moments, particularly Ding’s error during the endgame that allowed Gukesh to gain an advantage. The controversy has raised doubts over the match’s integrity, though FIDE has yet to respond.

Despite the accusations, Gukesh’s achievement remains significant as he becomes only the second Indian to win the World Chess Championship, following his mentor, Viswanathan Anand.
