In a tragic road accident, probationary IPS officer Harsh Bardhan lost his life on Sunday in Hassan district, Karnataka. Bardhan, who had recently completed his training, was on his way to take up his first posting as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening near Kittane in Hassan taluk, when the tyre of Bardhan’s vehicle burst. As a result, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to collide with a tree and a house on the roadside. Bardhan, who was seated in the car, suffered several head injuries and passed away during treatment. The driver, identified as Manjegowda, sustained minor injuries.

The 26-year-old IPS officer, originally from Bihar, was the son of a sub-divisional magistrate. He had recently completed a four-week training program at the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru. Harsh Bardhan had reported to the Inspector General of Police (Central Range), Boralingaiah, and was on his way to Holenarasipur to take charge as probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police.
