Shahpur Jail Inmates Empowered Through Soap and Sanitizer Production Program
Inmates at Shahpur District Jail in Sargodha have embarked on a skill development program, producing soap, shampoo, and sanitizers under an initiative launched by the jail administration.
Designed to equip prisoners with valuable vocational skills, the program not only supports Shahpur Jail but also aims to benefit prisons across Punjab. Using newly installed machinery, inmates are being trained to manufacture soap, dishwashing liquids, and sanitizers. These products will serve both internal prison needs and the open market, generating income and compensation for the participating prisoners.

“This program allows us to learn skills with our own hands, giving us hope to reintegrate into society and lead better lives,” shared Syed Yousaf, an inmate involved in the initiative.
DIG Prisons Saeedullah Gondal highlighted the program’s rehabilitative impact, stating, “Our goal is to provide prisoners with skills that can improve their future prospects.”
The training is structured to impart essential skills within a month, enabling the production of up to 100,000 soaps monthly. By combining vocational training with economic support, the initiative offers inmates a chance to transform their lives and contribute to society post-release.
