The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has submitted a detailed report to the Lahore High Court (LHC) in response to a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Akmal Khan Bari. The petition challenged an alleged order barring the mention of PTI Founder Imran Khan’s name on television channels.
During the court proceedings, the hearing was adjourned indefinitely. The petitioner’s lawyer was absent due to being occupied in the Supreme Court, leading Justice Farooq Haider to comment on the frequent absence of the lawyer from the hearings.

The federal government’s lawyer argued that the petition was not maintainable under the PEMRA Ordinance. PEMRA’s counsel denied issuing any directive or notification prohibiting the broadcasting of Imran Khan’s name. The regulatory body clarified that no such restrictions were in place and no evidence supporting the claims of a ban was presented in court.
PEMRA also stated that it was already processing an application related to the matter filed by the petitioner, suggesting that the petition in the Lahore High Court was redundant. The regulatory authority requested the court to dismiss the petition based on the available facts.
