Former England captain Nasser Hussain has highlighted Babar Azam’s major technical flaw while batting, which has affected his form in recent years. According to Hussain, Babar often gets squared up while batting, an issue that shouldn’t arise for a player with such a refined technique. In an interview, Hussain noted, “He gets squared up a lot, especially outside the fourth stump, and that’s what happened in the first test. Ted Dexter once said, you should play the ball beside, not behind it. Babar tends to get too far behind the ball and gets squared up. I’d advise him to play beside it.”
Hussain is not the only one offering advice to Babar during his run slump. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting suggested that Babar might consider taking a break from the game to rediscover his form.

Babar, however, appeared to improve in the first ODI against Australia after a brief break from the game. He will aim to build on this confidence in the upcoming second match, with an important period ahead for Pakistan cricket.
