Israel Strikes Military Targets in Iran Tehran Reports 'limited' Damage

Israel launched targeted strikes on military installations in Iran early on Saturday in response to Iran’s recent missile attacks on Israel. The pre-dawn Israeli operation hit missile production facilities and air defense systems in Tehran and surrounding provinces, including Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam, though no damage to nuclear or energy sites was reported. Israeli officials declared the mission’s objectives complete after three waves of strikes, saying they would respond further if Iran escalates.

Iran’s air defenses countered the strikes, claiming limited damage, and officials have indicated plans for a proportional response. The closure of airspace in Iran and neighboring Iraq underscored the regional impact, as Iran’s Revolutionary Guard bases were reportedly targeted but unharmed.

The United States was informed of the strikes but was not directly involved. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin later spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, confirming the deployment of US anti-missile defenses (THAAD) and personnel to Israel, reinforcing support amidst heightened tensions.
