RAWALPINDI – In anticipation of countrywide protests led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against proposed constitutional amendments, several roads in Rawalpindi have been blocked with containers following Friday prayers.
Barriers have been set up on Peshawar Road near Charing Cross and on Nal Road near MH, with one lane remaining open for traffic. Zigzag barricades have also been installed at the entry points to Rawalpindi, and police personnel are deployed to maintain order.

Key routes, including those leading to Murree Chowk and Liaquat Bagh, have been closed, while single-lane traffic is being allowed at Sawan Bridge. All other routes in Rawalpindi continue to operate normally.
Metro Bus Services Suspended
In the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the Metro bus service has been suspended for the fifth consecutive day. The service was initially halted from October 14 to 16 due to security concerns surrounding the Shanghai Cooperation Organization conference. It remained closed on October 17 and continues to be suspended today, Friday.
26th Amendment
Irfan Siddiqui, the Parliamentary Leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Senate, announced that a bill regarding the constitutional package would be presented in the upper house of parliament on Friday. He claimed that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and PML-N have reached a consensus on a comprehensive draft. This follows the coalition government’s assertion that they have secured the necessary two-thirds majority in parliament to pass the constitutional amendment.
