Pakistan’s batting star, Babar Azam, has chosen to resign from the white-ball captaincy following a series of disappointing results for the national team.

He announced his decision across various social media platforms, explaining that the significant responsibility of leading the team has adversely impacted his batting performance.

In a message to fans, Babar wrote, “I have decided to resign as captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, effective as of my notification to the PCB and Team Management last month. It’s been an honor to lead this team, but it’s time for me to step down and focus…”

The prolific batsman has struggled over the past year, not scoring a half-century in his last 16 Test innings and facing criticism for his performance in major ICC tournaments. Babar emphasized his commitment to returning to his best form, believing that stepping down from the captaincy may help improve his game.

Babar is set to play as Pakistan faces England in a three-match Test series starting on October 7.
