A helicopter crash in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday claimed six lives and left eight others injured. The MI-8 helicopter, carrying 14 passengers, was chartered by Mari Petroleum, a Pakistani oil exploration company.
The crash occurred shortly after takeoff from the Shewa oil field due to a technical issue. During an attempted emergency landing, the helicopter’s tail rotor struck the ground, leading to the fatal accident.

Mari Petroleum confirmed the technical fault, stating that although the helicopter made contact with the ground, it lost control soon after. Rescue operations, supported by the Pakistan Army, are ongoing.
