Eight soldiers were martyred as a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment was foiled

RAWALPINDI – The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Tuesday that a foiled attack on Bannu Cantonment resulted in the martyrdom of eight soldiers and the death of 10 terrorists the previous day. According to ISPR, security forces successfully thwarted terrorists attempting to breach the cantonment, forcing them to detonate an explosive-laden vehicle against the perimeter wall. The blast caused a section of the wall to collapse and inflicted damage on nearby infrastructure.

The eight martyred soldiers were identified as Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Havildar Zil-e-Hussain, Havildar Shahzad Ahmed, Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain Khan, Sepoy Sobhan Majeed, Sepoy Imtiaz Khan, Sepoy Arsalan Aslam of the Pakistan Army, and Lance Naik Sabz Ali of the Frontier Constabulary. ISPR credited the timely and effective response of security forces for preventing a major catastrophe and saving innocent lives.

The statement attributed the terrorist act to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, operating from Afghanistan, which has previously used Afghan territory to carry out terrorism in Pakistan. “Pakistan has consistently raised concerns with the Interim Afghan Government, urging them to stop terrorists from using Afghan soil and to take decisive action against such elements,” the ISPR statement concluded.
