The PCB confirmed on Wednesday morning that Wahab Riaz, along with Abdul Razzaq, had been relieved of their roles in the national selection committee setup. This decision followed Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where the team failed to advance past the group stage. Additionally, Wahab Riaz was also removed from his duties in the national team management, where he had served as the senior team manager during recent tours and the T20 World Cup.
The shake-up in the selection committee signifies the PCB’s intent to overhaul its strategy after a series of underwhelming performances. As Pakistan cricket moves forward, the repercussions of these changes and Wahab Riaz’s response are expected to shape discussions within the cricketing community and among fans.
