The onset of the monsoon season in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has brought much-needed relief from the intense heat, with various areas experiencing a mix of light to heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Department has confirmed the beginning of monsoon rains across the plains of the province, particularly in places like Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, and Nowshera. In Peshawar, recent rainfall and overcast skies have significantly lowered temperatures across the provincial capital and surrounding regions. The combination of gusty winds and cloud cover overnight has contributed to a cooler morning, with temperatures recorded at 30 degrees Celsius at 5 AM.
Anticipating the potential for urban flooding during the monsoon season, Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has instructed provincial departments and district administrations to adhere strictly to the Monsoon Contingency Plan. He emphasized the proactive role of all tiers of disaster management and relief activities to minimize risks and damages to public life and property throughout KP.
