Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday outlined his peace proposals, presenting them as a viable solution to the prolonged conflict in Ukraine. His message was delivered by Yury Ushakov, his aide for international affairs, to attendees of the Primakov Readings Forum.
“I hope that, unlike many Western politicians who did not even want to delve into the essence of the initiative we put forward, the forum participants will approach its consideration thoughtfully and rationally. They will be able to see that it truly offers the possibility of stopping the conflict and moving towards a political and diplomatic settlement,” read the statement published on the Kremlin website.
On June 14, Putin called on Ukraine to withdraw its troops from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, acknowledge Russia’s territorial gains made during the “special military operation” initiated in February 2022, and confirm its neutral status. Additionally, he demanded the cancellation of all Western-imposed anti-Russian sanctions.

The Russian leader expressed confidence that forum participants would give serious consideration to Russian ideas regarding the establishment of a system of equal, indivisible security and mutually beneficial cooperation across the Eurasian continent.
Moscow is currently hosting the 10th International Scientific and Expert Forum Primakov Readings, an annual event where experts in international relations and the global economy convene, taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
