[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has enforced strict measures against Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya for his team’s slow over-rate during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Wankhede Stadium. Due to MI’s third offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct for minimum over-rate violations, Pandya has been fined Rs. 30 lakh and is barred from participating in the team’s next match.
This disciplinary action was announced by IPL authorities after MI breached over-rate regulations during their recent game. The penalty not only includes a significant fine but also a one-match ban for Pandya, impacting his participation in the opening match of the next IPL season.

This setback for Pandya comes amid MI’s disappointing performance in IPL 2024, where the team finished last in the standings for the second time in three years. With no more matches scheduled for MI this season, the ban will extend to the next season, requiring MI to appoint a new captain for their first fixture next year.
Pandya is the second player to face suspension for over-rate offenses in IPL 2024, following Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant. Similar to Pant, Pandya has received a one-match suspension for his third over-rate offense this season, along with a hefty Rs. 30 lakh fine. Additionally, MI players, including the Impact Player from the LSG match, have been individually fined Rs. 12 lakh or 50% of their match fees, whichever is lower, as stated by the BCCI.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
