Salwan Momika, Quran-Burning Suspect, Reportedly Found Dead

The controversial Islamic critic had resided in Norway under asylum status following his expulsion from Sweden due to the aforementioned event. Originally a Christian who later identified as an atheist, Momika characterized himself as a “liberal atheist critic and thinker.”

In June 2023, Momika garnered attention when he burned a copy of the holy Quran outside Stockholm’s main mosque on the eve of Eid al-Adha, with the sacrilegious act filmed by a friend on a mobile phone.
