Several prominent political figures, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the vice-chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and others, have received relief as their nomination papers were accepted for the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8. Notable figures such as Fawad Chaudhry, Zulfi Bukhari, Atif Khan, Naeem Haider Panjutha, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, among others, also had their nomination papers approved by election tribunals.

The proceedings on Friday focused on the hearing of objections raised against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers by electoral tribunals and legal courts. The objections submitted against the decisions of electoral tribunals and courts regarding the approval or rejection of nomination papers continued to be reviewed on that day.

The electoral tribunals took steps to reinstate the nomination papers of several candidates, including Haleem Adil Sheikh, Zulfi Bukhari, and Naeem Haider Panjutha, who is the lawyer for the PTI founder.

Moreover, the appeal tribunals overturned objections raised by Returning Officers (ROs) against the nomination papers of candidates like Raja Bashrat from PP-10, Qazi Ahmed Akbar from PP-1, Umer Tanvir Butt from PP-12, and NA-25.

Additionally, the electoral tribunals reinstated the nomination papers of PTI candidates such as Adnan Khan, Usama Ahmed, Ansar Iqbal, Mujahid Ali Khan, Shafiullah Jan, Amir Farzand, Abdul Salam Afridi, and others.

In a significant development on Thursday, the Balochistan electoral tribunal granted permission to several candidates to contest the upcoming general elections, overturning the initial rejection of their nomination papers by returning officers. Judges Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar and Amir Nawaz Rana of the Balochistan High Court carefully considered and resolved these appeals, providing a favorable outcome for the concerned candidates.

These decisions by the electoral tribunals mark a crucial step in the electoral process, ensuring that deserving candidates are afforded the opportunity to participate in the democratic proceedings scheduled for February 8.
