[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Lahore High Court (LHC) has instructed authorities to levy a Rs1 million fine on factories emitting polluted smoke in the provincial capital. Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC issued the order during a hearing on petitions related to combating increasing smog.
The court also mandated authorities to consult the Judicial Water Commission before unsealing the factories. The director general of the Environment Department was present during the hearing, revealing that some sealed factories were being reopened by the owners.

The court addressed issues of factories releasing hazardous smoke at night and directed the department to warn officers involved in corrupt practices. Additionally, the court instructed authorities to impose fines of Rs10,000 and Rs20,000 on domestic and commercial water consumers, respectively, for water wastage.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
