PM Orders To Establish 'Car City' In Islamabad To Streamline Sales and Purchases of Cars

In a bid to enhance the convenience of the vehicle buying and selling process, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has issued a directive to establish a ‘Car City’ in Islamabad. In a meeting focused on Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) affairs, officials were tasked with formulating a comprehensive plan for this purpose.

During the meeting, updates were provided on the progress of ongoing projects by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the performance of the Islamabad Police, and the issue of unauthorized encroachments in the capital.

The caretaker PM emphasized the need to address traffic and parking challenges stemming from vehicle showrooms in Islamabad. PM Kakar emphasized the necessity of creating a comprehensive plan for a Car City at a suitable location in Islamabad for the display, auction, and sale of vehicles.

Officials also shared that Islamabad is set to receive 160 new buses in the near future. Additionally, the PM advocated for the implementation of a centralized digital vehicle registration system across the country.

The PM directed that fitness certificates for older vehicles should be issued in accordance with internationally recognized environmental pollution standards.

To combat the problem of drug use in educational institutions, the police were instructed to take stringent measures. Furthermore, the PM called for decisive action against illegal encroachments on CDA lands, including those within Margalla National Park.
