In the 24th ICC World Cup 2023 match between Australia and the Netherlands at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Glenn Maxwell, the Australian all-rounder, showed no mercy to Dutch bowlers. He achieved the fastest century in World Cup history, reaching his hundred in just 40 balls, demonstrating incredible batting skills.
Maxwell came to bat when Australia’s score was 266-4 after 38 overs, following Josh Inglis’s dismissal. He aggressively confronted the Dutch bowlers, scoring 106 runs in only 44 balls, including 17 boundaries (nine fours and eight sixes).

It’s worth noting that the previous fastest-century record was held by South African Aiden Markram, who scored a century in 49 balls against Sri Lanka in the same venue where Maxwell set the new record.
David Warner scored his 22nd century with 104 runs, and Steven Smith contributed 71 runs before their dismissals. Maxwell then powered Australia to a massive total of 399-8 runs.
On the other hand, Dutch medium-pacer Bas de Leede had a tough day, conceding 115 runs in 10 overs while taking 2 wickets, marking the worst ODI bowling figures and surpassing records previously held by Mick Lewis and Adam Zampa.
