The violent assault on Al Ahli Hospital, caught in the midst of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, has deeply shaken the international community. Turkey and Jordan have declared a three-day period of national mourning in a display of support for their Muslim counterparts.

The horrific attack, which both Hamas and Israel refuse to accept responsibility for and continue to accuse each other, claimed the lives of 500 individuals. This has incited worldwide indignation over the alleged inhumane war crimes committed against Palestinian civilians by Israel.

On Wednesday, violent demonstrations erupted in various Middle Eastern countries. Thousands of people in Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, Egypt, Tunisia, and the occupied West Bank took to the streets to express solidarity with the people of Gaza.

Simultaneously, thousands congregated outside the US and Israeli embassies in Jordan’s capital, Amman, to denounce the alleged war crimes. In response, the Jordanian government announced a three-day mourning period, as did Turkey.

Protests were also held outside the French embassy in the Tunisian capital. In Egyptian cities such as Cairo and Alexandria, university students held rallies to condemn Israel’s airstrikes.

The conflict originated on October 7 when Hamas initiated a surprise attack on Israel, resulting in a significant number of casualties on both sides following Israel’s retaliation.
