With winter on the horizon, gas companies are taking steps to prepare a gas load management plan for the upcoming season, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of gas to domestic consumers in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

During the winter, local gas production is expected to average 3.6 billion cubic feet per day, complemented by an additional 1 billion cubic feet imported in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This would provide a total gas availability of 5 billion cubic feet per day during the winter season.

However, the projected maximum gas demand during winter is approximately 6.5 billion cubic meters, resulting in a daily shortfall of 1 billion cubic feet.

Despite this, the primary focus will be on ensuring a continuous supply of gas to domestic consumers, with the power sector receiving lower priority. Industries categorized as zero-rated may be exempt from gas load shedding, and specific schedules for general industrial gas supply are under consideration.

For the compressed natural gas (CNG) sector, gas supply will depend on availability, but there will be no load shedding for the domestic sector during morning, afternoon, and evening hours.

The gas load management plan is expected to be finalized by mid-October and will require approval from the federal government. Once approved, the plan will be implemented from November to March of the following year.
