12 Candidates Shortlisted for Position of CEO USF

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The selection procedure for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position at the Universal Service Fund has been finalized. According to information from sources within the IT and Telecom Ministry, 12 candidates have been chosen from a pool of over 35 applicants vying for the role of CEO at the Universal Service Fund. The shortlisting process took into account various qualifications, field experience, and other criteria specified in the advertisement.

It has been reported that interviews for the shortlisted candidates will be conducted soon. Subsequently, a panel comprising the top three candidates for the CEO position will be presented to the federal government for approval.

Former USF CEO Haris Mehmood Chaudhry retired on August 15 this year after completing a four-year term, declining a one-year extension offered by the IT Ministry. Interestingly, the IT Ministry has clarified that obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Election Commission is not required for the appointment of the CEO of USF. Haris Mahmood Chaudhry had informed the IT Ministry of his resignation a month prior. The process of appointing a new CEO was initiated during the last days of the previous government.

According to officials from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), the Universal Service Fund plays a crucial role in advancing telecommunication services in underserved and remote areas across the country. Over the past four years, the USF has achieved significant milestones, including connecting 40 million individuals in rural Pakistan and successfully executing 83 projects worth Rs. 77.7 billion, compared to 76 projects valued at Rs. 57 billion during the initial 13-year period.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
