Can PML-N reduce skyrocketing inflation if elected?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, promised on Sunday that if his party is elected in the next general elections, he will reduce the country’s skyrocketing inflation rate.

Speaking to a PML-N UAE delegation in Dubai, the former premier, who was accompanied by his daughter Maryam Nawaz, vowed his party would overcome all of Pakistan’s challenges and obstacles.

Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, the PML-N’s UAE president, led the delegation.

Nawaz stated that one of his party’s key aims will be to revive the country’s economy and lower the prices of necessary items.

“The PML-N would rescue the country from its economic crisis.” It has always rescued Pakistan from crises and will continue to do so.”

The PML-N supremo will fly from Dubai to Jeddah on July 4 (Tuesday), accompanied by Maryam, the party’s senior vice president.

According to the timetable, Nawaz will fly to London from Jeddah on July 10, while Maryam would fly to Pakistan.

Nawaz will attend critical meetings while in Jeddah.

According to reports, the PML-N supremo would meet with prominent business figures in Jeddah, including officials from oil corporations.

Nawaz and his daughter met with PPP Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and his son party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Dubai recently to discuss the PML-N supremo’s return to Pakistan, the timing of the approaching general elections, and names for the caretaker government.

The country recently saw the end of a parliamentarian’s lifetime ban when acting President Sadiq Sanjrani signed the Elections Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

The bill established a five-year disqualification period.

After sailing through the Senate, the bill was passed by the National Assembly.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar introduced the law as a supplementary agenda item in the lower chamber of parliament, and it was overwhelmingly passed.

Nawaz and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Jahangir Tareen will be the first to benefit from the new law after it is signed by the acting president.

The Supreme Court disqualified Nawaz, the three-time former prime minister, and Tareen, the PTI’s then-secretary general, from holding any public office for life months before the 2018 general elections.

The new law added a five-year disqualification period to Section 232 (Qualifications and Disqualifications) of the Elections Act of 2017. It stated that the period of disqualification under Article 62 of the Constitution will not exceed five years.

“Disqualification of a lawmaker will be considered for five years where the tenure of the punishment is not specified in the Constitution,” it stated.

“The disqualification… will be considered for five years based on Supreme Court or high court orders,” it stated.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
