Field Marshal Asim Munir to Visit Iran on Monday

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir is scheduled to visit Iran on Monday and is expected to hold important meetings during his visit, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said.

According to Baghaei, the visit is part of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen peace and security in the region.

The planned visit comes amid heightened regional tensions and continued diplomatic efforts to address security challenges across West Asia.

Asim Munir, Araghchi Discuss Regional Developments

The announcement follows a recent telephone conversation between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

During the call, the two officials discussed the latest regional developments and the situation in West Asia.

They also exchanged views on diplomatic efforts aimed at advancing political solutions and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral consultations and cooperation.

The discussions focused on promoting peace, stability and security in the region.

Munir’s visit to Tehran is expected to provide an opportunity for further talks on regional developments, security concerns and bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.

Iran Calls for End to ‘No War, No Peace’ Situation

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for an end to what he described as a “no war, no peace” situation.

According to Iranian state media, Pezeshkian said the uncertainty surrounding the possibility of renewed conflict was putting pressure on Iran’s economy.

He said Iranian officials were holding almost daily discussions on ways to move beyond the current situation while protecting the country’s principles and values and maintaining its ability to deter potential attacks.

The Iranian president said war was not a solution, but continued uncertainty over the possibility of renewed fighting was also damaging the country’s economic prospects.

Pezeshkian Warns of Impact on Investment

Pezeshkian also highlighted the difficulties Iran faces in attracting investment while the threat of renewed conflict remains.

He called for the situation to be resolved through what he described as “logic” while maintaining Iran’s strength and national interests.

The Iranian president also defended a recent memorandum of understanding with the United States, saying the agreement did not require Tehran to abandon its principles or amount to capitulation.

Iran Faces Economic and Security Pressure

In a separate televised address, Pezeshkian described Iran’s current circumstances as involving economic, military and security pressures.

He acknowledged the seriousness of the country’s economic challenges while referring to threats of additional US sanctions.

The Iranian president said Washington had repeatedly warned of imposing severe economic measures on Tehran.

Against this backdrop, Field Marshal Asim Munir’s planned visit to Iran is expected to attract attention as Pakistan continues its diplomatic engagement with regional countries.

The visit could provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss regional stability, security concerns and avenues for closer cooperation at a time of significant uncertainty across West Asia.
