Rs. 260k Government Medicines Stolen From Lahore Hospital

A theft case involving government medicines and medical supplies worth Rs. 260,000 has been reported from the emergency department of Lahore General Hospital.

According to hospital authorities, a suspect identified as Mubashir Iqbal was allegedly caught with the stolen medical supplies. He was later handed over to police for further investigation.

The recovered items reportedly included antibiotics, stomach injections, surgical gloves, branulas, central venous pressure lines and other medical supplies provided by the government.

During questioning, Iqbal allegedly accused dispenser Mian Hamid Nadeem of involvement in the case. He claimed that the dispenser would contact him and ask him to collect medicines from the hospital.

Hospital authorities said an investigation is underway to determine how the medical supplies were removed from the facility. Officials are also examining whether other people were involved in the alleged theft.

Police have registered a first information report against the alleged suspect. Authorities said a comprehensive investigation will be conducted to establish the facts and determine responsibility.

The case has raised concerns over the security and management of government-funded medicines at public hospitals. Such supplies are intended for patients receiving treatment at government healthcare facilities.

Authorities are expected to examine hospital records, stock registers and other available evidence as part of the investigation. The inquiry will also determine whether the hospital’s internal procedures were violated.

Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation. Officials are expected to take action against those found responsible for the alleged removal or misuse of government medical supplies.
